About this consultation
A one-off medical review to renew ongoing medication or consider issuing a certificate
This consultation is for people who need to renew a prescription for medication they already take regularly, or to obtain a medical document — a temporary incapacity certificate, a note for nursery or school, or family-care leave — for a situation that is already known.
The doctor reviews your history, your current medication and any previous documents, confirms whether the situation remains stable and, when there are clinical grounds, issues the prescription or document. The appointment is framed as a one-off medical evaluation, focused on continuing a plan that is already in place.
Booking the consultation does not, in itself, guarantee that a prescription or certificate will be issued — the doctor assesses each case and decides whether there is clinical justification to issue it. Situations that require a physical examination, that show warning signs, or that are a first assessment of a new problem cannot be resolved by video; in those cases the doctor directs you to an in-person consultation or the appropriate service.
