About this consultation
Cardiovascular follow-up from a distance, when a video assessment is appropriate
It is mainly for people with known heart disease or risk factors who need to review symptoms, tests or medication. It can also serve as a first assessment of stable complaints, without warning signs.
During the video call, the cardiologist takes your history, reviews your medication and any tests you share, and answers your questions. From there, they may adjust your follow-up, request tests or recommend an in-person examination.
As it does not allow auscultation, an ECG or a physical exam, some situations cannot be resolved online. When that happens, the doctor explains the most appropriate next step.
Recent chest pain, sudden breathlessness, fainting or signs of a stroke should not wait for a video consultation. Call 112.
