About this consultation
A whole-picture view of your health when several conditions, organs and systems are involved
Internal medicine is for adults living with conditions that affect more than one system — high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidaemia, heart failure or COPD — and for those with general, nonspecific symptoms that need to be put into context. It is the specialty that looks at how everything fits together and pulls together care that is often spread across several follow-ups.
In the consultation, the doctor reviews your clinical history, your current medication and any tests you have already had, assesses how your chronic conditions are progressing and adjusts your treatment. When useful, they order further tests, help you make sense of blood work or imaging results, and coordinate with other specialties.
A video consultation does not allow a physical examination — the doctor cannot listen to your chest, feel your abdomen or measure your blood pressure during the call. Whenever that direct contact is needed, or when the signs point to something that should be seen in person, the doctor refers you to an in-person consultation, tests or, if warranted, urgent care. It does not replace the assessment of acute or serious situations.

How to prepare
Before the consultation, gather your clinical history and any tests you have had across the different areas (blood work, imaging, reports from other specialists) and upload them to the platform in advance so the doctor can review them. Also prepare a complete, up-to-date list of everything you take — name, dose and frequency, including supplements and as-needed medication. If you measure your blood pressure or blood sugar at home, have those readings ready. The more complete the information, the more thorough the overall assessment.
